SEO Changes to Forums and Blogs January 23, 2009

After a hectic two days we’ve installed some components to create even better search engine optimization.

First the forums.

We’ve introduced a much needed system of meta tagging. It works by way of plugin and MUST be activated from your free forum admin panel. Click on plugins, look for “Meta Tag Generator (1.1)” and click activate!. To set your individual ‘default’ tags, for example on your home page, go to ‘configuration’. Scroll down the list of settings until you arrive at ‘Meta Tag Generator’. There are two boxes, one for meta description the other for meta keywords. Complete both as you wish and click save! All done!

At the moment, the meta description is generated automatically. Which means it will differ from page to page on your forum. The Keywords remain static throughout (i.e. they appear as you set them in the meta tag settings above). We will edit this in the future to create dynamic meta keywords, but more pressing issues are to hand at the moment!

For the blogs, the system is much the same. We’ve installled the All in One SEO Pack by Michael Torbet. This needs to be activated from your free blog admin panel. Once activated, click on settings and then click on the option ‘All in one SEO’. From this page you can set default  options.

This is a great step for Free-Blog.biz and its users. We’re looking forward to further enhancements in the SEO area, but over the next few days it’s back to creating and modifying templates for us!
